Title: To Judge or Not to Judge?
Text: Matthew 7:1–6

What did Jesus really mean when He said, “Judge not”?

This is one of the most quoted — and most misunderstood — teachings in all of Scripture. In today’s culture, Matthew 7:1 is often used as a shield against correction, accountability, or even truth itself. But when we slow down and examine Jesus’ words in their full context, we discover that He is not forbidding discernment — He is confronting hypocrisy.

In this message, we walk verse-by-verse through Matthew 7:1–6, exploring the difference between sinful judgment and godly discernment. Jesus exposes the danger of a critical spirit, warns against spiritual blindness, and calls us to examine our own hearts before evaluating others. Yet He also teaches that wisdom and discernment are essential for faithful living.

This sermon explores:
• The difference between judgment and discernment
• Why hypocrisy distorts spiritual vision
• What Jesus means by the “log and speck”
• How self-examination leads to spiritual clarity
• When correction is loving — and when it becomes prideful

Ultimately, this passage points us back to the heart of Christ — full of truth, humility, and grace. Clear eyes come from cleansed hearts.

Whether you’ve struggled with being judged, or you’ve wrestled with how to apply Jesus’ words faithfully, this message will help you rediscover the balance of truth and love in the kingdom of God.
